Michelle Holland has been one of the poetry editors of Sin Fronteras Journal since it began. That is twenty-one years, counting the issue which is now in production. She continued to be active after moving to northern New Mexico quite a few years ago. Only one other person, Michael Mandel, Organization Manager, has been involved that long.
Michelle has had a definite influence on the journal and its selection of poems each year. Now she has decided it is time to move on. Among other things, she is a full-time teacher.
So Sin Fronteras Journal is looking for another editor – let’s not call it a replacement, because each person is different and brings different skills and tastes. Here are the criteria:
- A practicing poet who has experience with critique and the confidence to select among poems submitted to the Journal,
- who has connections to New Mexico or the southwest border region, and
- who lives within about four hours travel distance of Las Cruces, so that the editors can meet face to face when needed.
There is no remuneration except personal satisfaction in seeing the Journal come together. The editorial work is done between June and September.
A few local people are considering the position, but nothing is decided. If you think you or someone you know would fit in with us, please send a comment.
